Next month (November 5), voters in South Dakota will go to the polls to decide the fate of recreational marijuana (Initiated Measure 29) in the state.

Recently, the link between pot and the Mount Rushmore State went to a whole new level when the unofficial face of recreational weed tied the two together on national television.

Legendary rapper and pot smoking enthusiast Snoop Dogg sat in with Al Roker on NBC's Today Show and the show 'rolled' out a custom weed related weather map featuring places from across America with pot related names, including one tiny South Dakota town.

5 Things South Dakota Gave the World

South Dakota may not get much respect. We get a blizzard and it's a footnote on the national scene, but if Florida gets a bit chilly it's breaking news. But, maybe it's fine to be forgotten about. We kind of like being left alone on our quiet piece of the plains.

South Dakota has given a lot to the world though. Not just giant mountain carvings and settings for HBO shows, but awesome things that the rest of the world should thank us for.
