These South Dakota, Minnesota Cities Among Happiest in America
There's a very good reason you're seeing a ton of smiles in two Tri-State (South Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota) these days.
Both are in the top 15 on a new list of the Happiest Cities in America (2024)
It was compiled by WalletHub, which scored 182 cities in three key categories: Emotional and Physical Well-Being, Income and Employment, and Community and Environment.
South Dakota's largest city fell just outside the top ten as Sioux Falls checked in at number 11.
The city ranked highest in the Emotional and Well Being category (#10), which looks at things like suicide and depression rates, as well as adequate sleep rates.
Two spots behind is Minnesota's largest city.
Minneapolis is 13th overall, landing in the top 25 in both Emotional and Well Being (#17) and Income and Employment (#22), which considers factors like poverty rates, job security, and job satisfaction.
California dominated the list with four cities in the top ten, including the Bay Area's Fremont, which is the happiest city in America thanks in part to the lowest separation and divorce rate in the nation.
