Book lovers in South Dakota will now have more virtual options available to them

The State Library is launching a Reciprocal Lending Agreement between the South Dakota Titles To Go eBook Consortium, The Black Hills Digital Library Consortium, and Siouxland Libraries, powered by OverDrive.

The agreement allows cardholders from participating libraries to borrow eBooks and audiobooks from other participating libraries.

Key benefits of the RLA:

  • Increased circulation and resource sharing, strengthening library services statewide.
  • Patrons gain access to thousands of additional digital titles from Partner Librarians.
  • Librarians incur no extra fees beyond their current OverDrive agreements.

Library patrons will use the Libby app to add participating libraries as “visitors,” enabling them to browse and borrow from partner collections. Libraries will provide guidance and marketing to ensure a smooth transition for users.

The Black Hills Digital Library Consortium is a digital resource network that serves 10 libraries in the Black Hills region.

Siouxland Libraries serve a population of over 200,000 individuals with a robust digital collection.

The Titles to Go consortium serves 80 members statewide.
