South Dakota Kid Hoping to Be National Mullet Champ
One South Dakota youngster is hoping to parlay his 'business in the front, party in the back' hairstyle into national fame this summer.
With a look he calls 'The Mullet Dakotan: Sioux Falls Up Front, Rapids in the Back', seven-year-old Finn Hannan of New Underwood is one of 115 contestants in the ages 5-7 division of the 2024 Mullet Champ competition, which will crown a winner in late August.
Finn is trying to survive the first round of cuts, which will narrow the field to 100 contestants. If he moves on, the second round of voting runs from July 24-30 when the field will again be whittled down to the final round of voting, which takes place August 14-21.
The winner will be announced August 28.
Each donation made on behalf of a contestant will go to former Minnesota Vikings defensive lineman Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors, a non-profit foundation that provides mortgage-free accessible homes to critically wounded combat Veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.
As of Monday (July 15), Finn was sitting pretty in fourth place overall.
