Am I the only person that is becoming less and less connected with the awful, lazy excuses for television series that the 'major' networks are feeding me? So many singing and dancing 'competitions' that I can't keep them straight (nor do I want to), endless fascination with quasi-celebrities created by internet buzz, and now there's something called a Honey Boo Boo?!?! Who the hell are these network executives that are green lighting this mindless drivel??

Thank you to some cable networks that are taking chances on shows like "Breaking Bad", "True Blood", and every Tuesday night through the Fall on FX: "Sons of Anarchy".

Now in it's fifth season, the show debuted with two 'name' actors on board: Katey Sagal who worked a long stretch on TV on "Married With Children" and Ron Perlman, best known as Hellboy and his years as the Beast to Linda Hamilton's Beauty.

The show is set in the fictional city of Charming, California and I first described the series to people that didn't know about it as The Sopranos on motorcycles, but it now does a disservice to the show. I loved the Sopranos. Absolutely LOVED that series. But it has nothing on the risks that FX is taking with SOA. The lives of these biker gang members, their inter personal relationships, their lives on the outer fringe of the law and Charlie Hunnam as Jax, a man in his early 30's struggling with who he is and finding a balance between being a father in a relationship with a doctor and his involvement and leadership in the club makes this...FINALLY...must see TV.

Check your local listings, get the first four seasons on Netflix, do whatever you need to do to join the SOA family. You won't regret it.
