It's time for some good news from SculptureWalk in Sioux Falls. The votes are counted and the people have spoken.

In a press release, the City of Sioux Falls revealed Sundays with Jessie as the 2015 SculptureWalk People’s Choice Award winner. The sculpture "depicts a young boy and his Labrador retriever, Jessie, enjoying some ice cream on a Sunday afternoon."

Artist Susan Geissler from Youngstown, New York, created the piece, which was chosen from the 55 sculptures that are part of this year’s exhibit.

The Best of Show award went to Book Peddlers by Jack Morford of American Fork, Utah. The piece shows "whimsical figures playing on a subtle scene of sarcasm. Giving a touch of the real world, while at the same time taking the viewer out of it and into their imagination and dreams."

Sioux Falls artists Lee Leuning and Sherri Treeby were People's Choice Runner Up with Gotta Practice First.

In its 12th year, SculptureWalk engages residents and visitors alike through outdoor sculptures that are displayed year-round in downtown Sioux Falls. Artists from around the world have an opportunity to place their finest sculptures in the SculptureWalk program for one year, and all sculptures are promoted to the public for sale. Artists within the program are eligible to win any one or more of the 15 awards.

Hundreds of art lovers vote annually from May through September for their favorite sculpture, known as the SculptureWalk People’s Choice Award. The winning sculpture will be purchased by the City of Sioux Falls and added to the City’s permanent collection.

Future placement of this award-winning sculpture will be within a public space, as recommended by the Sioux Falls Visual Arts Commission, and as accepted by the Mayor and City Council.
