Putting the JazzFest event on hold this year isn't the only change the Sioux Falls Jazz and Blues Society is making in 2020.

KSFY TV is reporting on Tuesday (January 7), they also named a new executive director.

Alexandra Gilbert-Schrag has been tabbed to lead the non-profit organization into the future.

Gilbert-Schrag replaces former Executive Director, Trygve Fredrickson who held the position last year. According to KSFY, Fredrickson will remain with the organization for a transitional period to provide support before moving on to his next opportunity.

Gilbert-Schrag joins the Sioux Falls Jazz and Blues Society with a great deal of experience having worked with a variety of other arts non-profits in the capacity of programming, festival production, event coordination, and executive talent management.

Her resume includes impressive stops at places like the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the United States National Cultural Center, in Washington, D.C. While at the Kennedy Center, Gilbert-Schrag filled multiple roles including Honoree Manager for the Kennedy Center Honors, Associate Producer for the Spring Gala, and coordination of day-to-day management of shows presented by Kennedy Center in the Concert Hall, Eisenhower Theater, Terrace Theater, Family Theater, and Millennium Stage.

Gilbert-Schrag has previous ties with South Dakota. Her family has a home in Freeman.

KSFY reports that she returned to the state back in 2018 to be closer to family and to help with the renovation of the family homestead.
