Summer officially ended in Sioux Falls this week, and another season is in its final stages: road construction season.

According to the South Dakota Department of Transportation, Thursday (September 24th), the Interstate 229 northbound off-ramp at Cliff Avenue (Exit 4) is scheduled to reopen to traffic (weather permitting). After exiting the Interstate, travelers may only turn right onto Cliff Avenue until paving of Cliff Avenue is completed in late October or early November.

The northbound auxiliary lane and ramp were recently reconstructed as part of a $48 million interchange reconstruction project. The northbound mainline Interstate and Cliff Avenue on-ramp will remain closed until late November when all paving and bridge work has been completed.

Southbound I-229 will remain in its current two-lane configuration until all barriers, cones, and barrels are removed by crews and pavement can be restriped. This work should be completed by early December.

The overall project completion date is June 2027.

The Most Road Rage Inducing Spots in Sioux Falls

More than anything, I'm holding out for Star Trek transporter technology. I'm not necessarily not excited about driverless cars. I for sure would be happy to not have to drive anymore. But, I don't want to do that until EVERYONE ELSE does it too.

Driving is not worth it. Even in Sioux Falls, there are plenty of opportunities to send your blood pressure into the red when wading through traffic.

Road Rage and driving in Sioux Falls go hand in hand, so much so that when we asked locals "Where do you get the worst road rage in Sioux Falls?" people had very strong opinions:

See How East 10th Street in Sioux Falls Has Changed

It's really interesting using Google Streetview to compare the changes from the earliest pictures to the latest.

For Sioux Falls, the earliest views are from 2008 and the latest from early 2022.

Some of the looks aren't the clearest, but it still gives a real good look at how dynamic the east side of Sioux Falls is.

See Inside the Sioux Falls 'Castle on 22nd Street'

I don't know when I first saw the home, nor do I remember when I started lovingly referring to it as the "Castle on 22nd Street." I only know that I did and have referred to that Sioux Falls house as such for about 20 years now.
