Sioux Falls Cat Cafe Closing
Less than three years after opening its doors in downtown Sioux Falls, the city's first-ever cat cafe is closing.
The official word on the fate of the Cattitude Cafe came via social media Saturday (1/24) morning.
The cafe will close for good on January 31st.
Since opening in 2023 at 11th Street and 2nd Avenue, the cafe has had its share of triumphs and struggles.

It has played a vital role in the adoption of nearly 600 cats and provided cat lovers with a place to spend quality time with a wide variety of feline friends.
But along the way, economics became an issue.
In April of last year, the café issued an urgent plea for $25,000 in donations to keep their doors open. By the end of the month, the money had come through, and the cafe's doors remained open.
Along the way, the cafe attempted to modify its business model in the hopes of keeping costs in check. The first big move was to transition away from food service. Eventually the kitchen space was transformed into an additional cat interaction space.
The cafe also tried to introduce new events like comedy nights, cat yoga, painting and wine events in the hopes of generating new business.
Customers who have gift cards from the cafe are being urged to redeem those before the close of the facility.
