Sioux Falls Brewery Pairs Beer and Popcorn for a Great Cause

Sometimes in life there are things you didn't know you needed until you came face-to-face with them and then you're hooked.

That's exactly what happened this week at one downtown Sioux Falls brewery.

The geniuses at Severance Brewing Co. decided it would be a good idea to compliment some of their best creations with a variety of different popcorn. But they didn't pick just any popcorn, they chose items from the Sioux Council Chapter of Scouting America.

And to make things even better, Severance then donated $3 from each pairing flight sold to the scouts.

After a series of behind-the-scenes test runs, the staff matched four beers with four popcorns in the hopes of maximizing each flavor.

To find the best beer in each state and Washington D.C., Stacker analyzed January 2020 data from BeerAdvocate, a website that gathers user scores for beer in real-time. BeerAdvocate makes its determinations by compiling consumer ratings for all 50 states and Washington D.C. and applying a weighted rank to each. The weighted rank pulls the beer toward the list's average based on the number of ratings it has and aims to allow lesser-known beers to increase in rank. Only beers with at least 10 rankings to be considered; we took it a step further to only include beers with at least 100 user rankings in our gallery.
