Early indications are that we could see some turbulent weather patterns settling over South Dakota which could include high winds, a threat of hail, and possible tornadoes.

At the time of this writing, the risk was a "2" on a scale of 1 to 5 with "5" being the most severe. The advice of the National Weather Service in Sioux Fallis is to stay "weather aware" as there is uncertainty in timing and location.

Late Tuesday morning, the severe storm outlook for this evening into later tonight has been expanded further east into NW Iowa and SW Minnesota. This follows a day of extremely high and dangerous heat indexes.

This is also a good reminder to have several ways to stay informed with alerts from weather apps or weather radio.

Again, anything weather related is never a sure thing. But it's best to stay aware of rapidly changing weather conditions this evening. It's also a good idea to secure loose deck furniture, trash bins, potted plants, etc. in case the wind gusts are as strong as forecasted which is upwards of 70 mph.
