In 2015 Robbie Lawler made a guest stop in Sioux Falls for a RFA event at the Sanford Pentagon to support some of the fighters and since then, he has continued to keep his welterweight title.

Maybe call it a little South Dakota luck or call it pure determination from one of the best MMA fighters in the world.

At UFC 195 on Saturday night in Las Vegas, Lawler defeated Carlos Codit in a split decision to retain the welterweight belt.

The fight itself set a high bar for the rest of 2016 in regards to the level of fights we will need to see to match intensity we saw inside the octagon on Saturday.

It was five rounds of back and forth fighting that left the fans as entertained as ever at the MGM Garden Arena.

Lawler improved to 27-10 with the win, while Condit fell to 30-9 with the loss.
