Reggie Wayne Retires from the NFL
He didn't play this year but nothing had become official until Friday when Reggie Wayne announced that he was retiring from the NFL.
"Yeah, I'm done," Wayne told WTTV CBS-4 in Indianapolis on Friday, "It was fun, but it's time. It's just time. Whenever you can admit that you're done, you know you're done."
One of my favorite wide receivers during my lifetime, Wayne hailed from TheU which also happens to be my favorite college team.
Watching him evolve from a highly talented wide receiver at Miami to becoming a complete and record setting WR at the NFL level was truly a joy.
Wayne did spend part of the preseason with the Patriots before asking for his release prior to the regular season.
Wayne will finish his career as a six-time Pro Bowler, ranking seventh in NFL history with 1,070 receptions and is eighth best with 14,345 career receiving yards.
He scored 82 touchdowns over 14 seasons and was a Super Bowl champ with the Colts.
