Oh, Deer! Arby’s Testing Venison Sandwiches
Deer season is upon us. I can't wait to go. Arby's is adding to the excitement with something new on the menu.
Venison sandwiches will be tested throughout November in select markets where deer hunting is a big deal.
In case you're wondering if there will be some beef or pork filler in it, an executive for the company told USA Today there will not be:
The venison sandwich is "100% deer meat," with premium cut top and bottom round steaks from the hind quarter of the deer, according to Rob Lynch, Arby’s Brand President & Chief Marketing Officer.
Lynch said the company released the sandwich as part of “It’s Meats Season” campaign, which celebrates the start of hunting season.
"Bringing venison to our menu also allows us to continue to set ourselves apart from the competition when it comes to proteins," he said. "You simply can’t find this at other restaurant chains."
Lynch said the company sources free-range farmed deer that feed on fresh grass, and he is confident that " deer hunters are going to love this sandwich."
Sadly South Dakota is not one of the test beds but you won't have to go super far to try one, but you'll have to plan a bit of a road trip. Two locations in St. Cloud and one in St. Louis Park, Minnesota will have the sandwiches November 4 to November 6.
The locations are:
- 1690 Park Place Blvd., St. Louis Park, MN
- 348 Lincoln Ave. SE, St. Cloud, MN
- 3275 First St. S, St. Cloud, MN
