NFL Commissioner Axes LA Team in 2015
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell put an end to any speculation that there might be a NFL moving to Los Angeles as he informed the San Diego Chargers, Oakland Raiders and St. Louis Rams that there will not be a team that moves to LA in 2015.
Goodell also urged those teams to look at 2016 for the move instead of 2015.
The Rams, Raiders and Chargers are still able to file a relocation application, but it is clear that it will not be supported.
Furthermore, after the call from the commissioner accompanied with the speculation that a relocation application would not be supported, the San Diego Chargers announced that they would be staying in San Diego.
Also according to Adam Schefter and his original report, he confirmed with Chargers team executive Mark Fabiani that 30 percent of the team's local revenue, which includes sponsorships, ticket sales, advertising, club seats and suites are originating right now from LA, so the Chargers seem to be keeping a close watch on the possibilities of moving and not losing that revenue to a potential team that could relocate from outside that market.
