In the world of sweet treats, there are cookies and then there is the gold standard in cookies - Nestle Toll House Cookies.

These legendary chocolate chippers have been an American favorite for more than 80 years and now they're available in Sioux Falls.

Tuesday (December 10) was the grand opening of the Nestle Toll House Cafe at the Empire Mall. The cafe is located near the Sanford Children's Play Area in what used to be the Sears wing of the mall.

You don't have to limit yourself to just chocolate chip cookies, the cafe features a variety of flavors as well as cookie cakes, ice cream, coffee, smoothies, and frozen yogurt.

The Nestle Toll House Cafe chain got its start in Dallas in 2001 and has now expanded to more than 20 states in America as well as six other countries.

As for the namesake cookie, Delish.com says they were created in 1938 by Ruth Wakefield who owned the Toll House Inn restaurant, with her husband, in Whitman, Massachusetts.

Since 1997, Toll House has been the official state cookie of Massachusetts.
