A quick thinking motorcyclist resorted to laying down his bike on its side in an attempt to avoid a collision Saturday night July 2, 2016 at approximately 7:45 PM at the I-29 and Tea exit interchange.

Lincoln County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the accident on 271 Street and  I-29 interchange on the south bound on ramp.  The driver of the motorcycle had a green light and was merging onto I-29 south bound at the Tea exit near mile marker 73.  The driver of the car was also merging but didn't see the motorcycle and failed to yield.

The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office release provided these details:

The driver of the car failed to yield, causing the motorcyclist to lay the motorcycle on its side to prevent a collision with the car.  The driver of the motorcycle was injured and was transported to a local hospital.

The motorcyclist's injuries are non-life threatening.

The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by the Tea Police Department, South Dakota Highway Patrol, Tea Fire Department and Paramedics Plus.
