John Mellencamp and Stephen King's musical won't be staged as a musical this year.

The Ghost Brothers of Darkland County soundtrack will be released on March 19th, and a touring production of the show will follow. But instead of a full production, producers have decided to stage it as a radio play at concert venues.

The show's director, Susan Booth of Alliance Theater in Atlanta, says, “Subsequent to the show’s close in Atlanta, Steve and John did significant re-writing and re-structuring of the book. What we learned and have leaned into is that this work only succeeds if it commits to being something unique unto itself.”
