A few weeks ago, we heard the lightly unnerving news that Marvel's Joss Whedon-helmed 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' TV series had undergone a minor name change, becoming 'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' in full nomenclature. Mixed reactions to the title change aside, now we're finding that the upcoming ABC drama pilot may drop the "Marvel" in practice, to simply remain 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' Clear up all the 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' TV series confusion inside!

While we know that ABC and Joss Whedon have a Marvel Cinematic Universe TV series very likely to receive a full season order in the near future, we're still not entirely sure what to call the darn thing! Recent investor website information labeled the production as 'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,' but now we've learned through Entertainment Weekly that the show's official Facebook page has adopted a simple 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,' title, sans the Marvel.

Of course, Marvel's 'The Avengers' alternately uses or doesn't use the corporation name in its nomenclature, so the upcoming TV series will very likely adopt the simpler 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' in practice, barring yet another name change. ABC will hold its Upfront presentation in the coming months, wherein we'll likely learn a confirmed title and hopefully news of a full-season pickup.

Marvel’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ TV series features a cast that includes Clark Gregg’s resurrected Agent Phil Coulson, as well as Whedon vet J. August Richards,  ‘ER’ doc Ming-Na, Chloe Bennet, Brett Dalton, Elizabeth Henstridge and Iain De Caestecker as the other agents of the team. Nick Fury himself, Samuel L. Jackson previously stated that he expected to be involved in some small capacity, while ‘How I Met Your Mother‘ and ‘The Avengers‘ star Cobie Smulders remains open to the possibility as well.

We'll try to stick to 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' from now on, but what say you? Do you wish the title had stayed as 'S.H.I.E.L.D.?' What are you expecting from the latest Joss Whedon TV series?
