Listen to a Live Version of Gov’t Mule’s New Song, ‘Dreams and Songs’
"The new album covers a lot of territory, musically speaking," Gov't Mule leader Warren Haynes tells Ultimate Classic Rock. "This song is a very personal song — looking back from where I am now. I think a lot of people can relate to the message."
Revolution Come … Revolution Go is the first new Gov't Mule's album since 2013's Shout!, and follows a PledgeMusic campaign that offered fans an assortment of additional content. Gov't Mule began recording Revolution Come … Revolution Go on Election Day, and focuses on "the current political climate, poignantly capturing the tension and emotions felt by Americans regardless of political affiliation," according to advance press materials.
Next, they have a tour planned with a series of dates into late August. "It's kind of our playground," Haynes told Rolling Stone. "It's the place where we can musically explore anything we want to. We're excited about continuing to go in new directions. And we're all really good friends and love playing music together."
Haynes co-founded Gov't Mule while still a member of the Allman Brothers Band, along with drummer Matt Abts and the late bassist Allen Woody. Danny Louis and Jorgen Carlsson round out Gov't Mule's lineup. Woody was also a former member of the Allman Brothers Band.
