Last Call for Leaf and Branch Drop-Off in Sioux Falls
If you've been meaning to do something with that pile of leaves and branches that has been accumulating in your yard this spring, time is running out.
The City of Sioux Falls is reminding residents the two branch and leaf drop-off sites will close for this season this weekend.
The sites are located at North Lyon Boulevard, near the Sioux Empire Fairgrounds, and on Chambers Street, near the City’s Household Hazardous Waste Facility.
Both sites are open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM through Saturday (5/25) and 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM Sunday (May 26).
- Lyon Boulevard
Access is available from West 12th Street or West Madison Street
- Chambers Street
Access is available from North Cliff Avenue
The sites are intended for residential use only. Cars, pickups, full-size SUVs, vans, and two-wheel trailers are accepted. Lawn service companies, commercial businesses, and double-axel trailers will not be accepted and must go directly to the Sioux Falls Regional Landfill.
Branches and leaves must be placed in separate piles, and leaves must be removed from plastic bags. All loads must be tarped or in an enclosed vehicle. Plastic bags, stumps, rubble, and household garbage are not accepted.
Discarded branches are ground and repurposed, while leaves are composted. Free compost will still be available at both drop-off sites throughout the summer. Residents must collect and carry their own compost.
