If you're looking for a night out filled with music that will put a smile on your face, a bounce in your step and a wiggle in your hips, check out the Kris Lager Band the next chance you get. They're at Boonies on West Avenue tonight (November 3) and have become a regular here in Sioux Falls over the past six years or so.

The band: Kris Lager, Jeremiah Weir, John Fairchild and Brandon Miller, term their music 'Thrift Store Funk'. You can call it 'roots' music too, but that doesn't really cover what they do either. Lager says when he got in his first band at 16, all he wanted to do was play the Blues. If it wasn't Blues, he wasn't interested.

But as he grew up, his tastes broadened, and with all the band members having different music in their backgrounds, the music the band wrote began to broaden as well. You still get the Blues, but there's soul, R&B, funk, hip-hop, and more.

KLB's new release is called 'Swagadocious' and it perfectly encapsulates what they are: the funkiest soul/blues band in the land. The band continues to evolve, and it's one hell of a ride! So put on your thrift store best and get to a KLB show. Tell 'em Crash sent ya. If you don't have a good time, you just ain't trying very hard.
