"He's been saying it for years, "He'll be there for you" and now he will be. Jon Bon Jovi received an honorary Doctor of Music degree from the University of Pennsylvania on Monday. (5/20)

The ceremony was held at Franklin Field in Philadelphia. See Jon has been teaching a master class in songwriting hooks for decades and now the university honored the 57-year old rocker with the accolade.

Acknowledging his new title, Bon Jovi said on Instagram: “It’s better to be a doctor than be in need of a doctor. Thanks, University of Pennsylvania and congratulations to all the graduates.” According to other reports, graduates sang Bon Jovi's hit 'Livin' on a Prayer' during the ceremony.

Bon Jovi previously received a Doctorate of Humanities from Monmouth University in 2001. As for his band, they are set to go on a European tour at the end of the month.
