Minnesota’s Most Popular Halloween Costumes for 2023

Halloween is just two weeks away! If you're still struggling to find the perfect costume, I've got your back. Thanks to Google search trends, I have the most Googled Halloween costumes in Minnesota for 2023. I also have the most Googled costumes in Iowa and Wisconsin, too.

I'd say some of the easiest costumes you could pull off last minute would include a witch, a cat or dog, any professional athlete (especially if you own a jersey), or a scarecrow.

Another easy one that's quite clever is you could be a ceiling fan. You wear pretty much whatever clothes you want, you carry around pom poms, and you wear a sign that says "Go Fan!". Get it?

None of those are the most Googled costumes in Minnesota, Iowa, or Wisconsin, though.

I'm using a site called Frightgeist which analyzes Google searches in highly populated areas in each state to determine the most searched costume in each area. Here's what they found.

Most Googled Halloween Costumes in Wisconsin for 2023

In Wisconsin, it's broken down into 5 different highly populated areas. You've got the Wausau-Rhinelander area, La Crosse-Eau Claire area, Green Bay-Appleton area, Madison area, and Milwaukee area. In every. Single. One of them. The most Googled Halloween costume is Barbie.

You may start to see a trend here really quickly.

Most Googled Halloween Costumes in Iowa for 2023

Iowa has 5 highly populated areas that were analyzed. Two of them overlap into neighboring states but we'll still include them.

We've got the Sioux City area, Des Moines-Ames area, Cedar Rapids-Waterloo-Iowa City-Dubuque area, Davenport, IA-Rock Island, IL-Moline, IL area, and Ottumwa, IA-Kirksville, MO area.

The most searched costumes here don't all match! In Sioux City, the most Googled costume is a dinosaur.

In the Davenport, IA-Rock Island, IL-Moline, IL area, it's Wednesday Addams.

And in the other three areas, yep, you guessed it, the most Googled costume is Barbie.

Most Googled Halloween Costumes in Minnesota for 2023

As for Minnesota, we have 4 highly populated areas that were analyzed. Those include the Rochester-Austin, MN-Mason City, IA area, Mankato area, Twin Cities area, and Duluth, MN-Superior, WI area.

In Mankato, the most Google costume is Harley Quinn.

And in the other three, yet again, it's Barbie.

The top 5 costumes in the Rochester area, specifically, are Barbie at number one, followed by Wednesday Addams, a doll, Batman, and Beetlejuice.

The most Googled costume across the country is also Barbie, so I'm sure there will be plenty of Barbies knocking on your door on Halloween night.

The other most popular costumes are a princess at number two, followed by Spider-Man, a witch, and number five is a fairy.
