Statewide Crime Alert for Vehicle in Fatal Minnesota Hit & Run Canceled
Rock County, MN (KROC-AM News)- The Minnesota BCA has canceled a statewide crime alert for a vehicle suspected of being involved in a fatal hit and run.
The state agency issued the alert last week after authorities in southwestern Minnesota responded to reports of a man lying in the north ditch along a rural road north of the town of Beaver Creek and about 7 miles northwest of Luverne.
The man, who was believed to have been struck by a vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. The statewide alert described the vehicle as a newer-model Chevrolet Z71 pickup truck, maroon or similar in color.
On Tuesday night officials announced the suspect vehicle had been located in Sioux Falls South Dakota. The driver’s identity has not been released.
The man killed in the Dec. 13 hit-and-run has been identified as 76-year-old William Krotzer. Authorities say the Luverne man’s vehicle was found about a mile east of his body with a flat tire.
He was believed to have been walking along the road when he was fatally struck by the pickup. The BCA says the deadly incident is still under investigation by the Rock County Sheriff's Office.
