Son Severely Wounds Father in Southern Minnesota Shooting
Eagle Lake, MN (KROC-AM News)- One man is in the hospital and his son is detained following a New Year's Day shooting in southern Minnesota.
That’s according to the Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office. A news release says deputies responded to the shooting shortly after 4:15 p.m. Monday.
The shooting was reported by the victim’s son, who called 911 and said he had shot his father in the arm. The 911 call came from a mobile home park in Eagle Lake, which is about eight miles east of Mankato.
Upon arrival a deputy and Minnesota State Trooper rendered aid to the victim, who is described as a 59-year-old man.
The suspected shooter’s father was taken to the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Mankato with life-threatening injuries before being airlifted out of Mankato to a different hospital for further care, authorities say.
Authorities say the gunshot victim’s son is being detained pending further investigation. The identities of the father and son have not been released.
The State Patrol and Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the shooting.
