The park, located in Shakopee, has long been a popular getaway for families from Minnesota, South Dakota, Iowa, and beyond. Visitors can enjoy dozens of rides and attractions, including eight roller coasters and the Soak City water park.

But the 2026 season also comes during a time of change for the park.

Ownership Changes at Valleyfair

Parent company Six Flags Entertainment Corporation recently announced plans to sell Valleyfair, along with several other amusement parks in North America. The parks are expected to be purchased by EPR Properties, a company that invests in entertainment and recreation properties.

Even with the ownership change, guests likely won’t notice much difference when they visit this summer. Valleyfair is expected to continue operating much the same way it always has, with rides, games, food, and live entertainment throughout the season.

The park first opened in 1976 and has become a summer tradition for many families across the region. As Valleyfair gets ready to open its gates again on May 10, visitors can expect the same thrills and fun that have made the park a favorite for five decades.
