If you want to get away from it all and live in a small rural atmosphere this tiny community might be just for you!
Le Roy, Iowa is nestled in Decatur County and holds the distinction of being the “Smallest Incorporated Town In Iowa.”
Le Roy's population has dwindled to around 11 residents and is about an hour south of Des Moines in the southern part of the state near the Missouri border.
The town was established in 1880 after the construction of the local Railroad and is named after early settler Leroy Buffman.
Despite its diminutive size, the town has managed to preserve its identity and a sense of community among its few inhabitants.
Le Roy's history dates back to the mid-19th century when it was founded as a small farming settlement.
The town's landscape is characterized by open fields, a couple of homes, and the remnants of its past as a more bustling community.
