Sioux Falls SculptureWalk People’s Choice Award Winner Announced
The votes have been cast, nearly 1,500 to be exact, and the people of the Sioux Empire have once again anointed their new favorite piece of artwork, during the Sioux Falls SculptureWalk's People's Choice Awards for 2023.
Dakota News Now is reporting that local Sioux Falls sculptor, Cameron Stalheim got the nod this year for his bronze sculpture named "Linger."
Stalheim told Dakota News Now, “The City of Sioux Falls is incredibly lucky to have SculptureWalk bringing art out of the gallery and into the streets. I am honored to have my piece, ‘Linger,’ selected for People’s Choice. This is a great motivator for me to pursue my passion and give back to the community. I look forward to continuing my participation with SculptureWalk and making Sioux Falls the city of sculpture.”
Stalheim's "Linger" can be found in front of the downtown Sioux Falls pub Hello Hi located on Phillips Avenue. It will remain there until a new crop of sculptures moves into the downtown area next spring.
Once that happens, "Linger" will be purchased by the city of Sioux Falls and moved to a permanent location somewhere here in the city for people to enjoy well into the future.
Every May through September residents here in the Sioux Empire are invited to cast votes for their favorite downtown Sioux Falls sculpture. The winning piece of artwork is then given the designation of receiving the "People's Choice Award."
At this time, the city of Sioux Falls has 67 different sculptures that line the sidewalks of Phillips Avenue, Main Avenue, and various other locations throughout downtown.
