Sioux Falls Hy-Vee Stores to Lock Their Doors on Thanksgiving Day

Attention Hy-Vee shoppers, you are going to want to make sure you stock up on turkey, potatoes, stuffing, yams, cranberry sauce, corn, green beans, pumpkin pie, and all the other fixings you're going to need to help prepare the big Thanksgiving Day feast prior to turkey day, because the Sioux Empire Hy-Vee stores plan to be closed all day on Thursday, (November 23).

Hy-Vee made that announcement on Monday, (November 13).

Dakota News Now is reporting the popular Sioux Empire grocery chain will be locking its doors on Thanksgiving Day this year so all their employees can spend quality time with family and friends.

That means every Hy-Vee grocery store, Dollar Fresh Market, Hy-Vee Fast & Fresh location, Wall to Wall Wine and Spirits store, and Hy-Vee Wine & Spirits location will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.

The only thing you'll be able to do on Thanksgiving Day at a Hy-Vee store is purchase gasoline using their pay-at-the-pump option.

Jeremy Gosch, Hy-Vee’s CEO, told Dakota News Now, As we head into the holiday season, we want to once again show our appreciation for all our hardworking employees by providing them with quality time to spend with their loved ones. By closing our stores on Thanksgiving Day, our employees can focus on and enjoy their own celebrations.”

According to Dakota News Now, if you purchased a holiday meal pack from Hy-vee, you will be able to schedule a time to pick up your order in-store prior to Thanksgiving, or by using their curbside pickup from 8 AM to 11:00 AM on Thanksgiving Day at your neighborhood Hy-Vee store.

And, if you have yet to order your holiday meal pack, you can still do so by calling your Hy-Vee store, or by ordering online.

Hy-Vee also plans to be closed on Christmas this year as well.

Are you a 'Redneck?' I guess to some people, all of us in South Dakota are rednecks.

If we use the Jeff Foxworthy Scale of Redneckeness, I have, in fact, been too drunk to fish. So by definition, I am a redneck. And so are many people I know.

Not that being from the country is a bad thing, and it can be fun to poke fun at ourselves.

With that in mind, we found that the folks at RoadSnacks put together a list that claims 'These Are The 10 Most Redneck Cities In South Dakota.'

What is a Redneck?

The dictionary says that a redneck is someone "...who lives in a small town or in the country, especially in the southern U.S., who typically has a working-class job, and who is seen by others as being uneducated and having opinions and attitudes that are offensive."

Well, a few things. First, South Dakota isn't THAT kind of 'south.' We're to the south of North Dakota, but to the north of 'The South.'
