Thieves Target Vehicles At Local Gyms In Sioux Falls
Unfortunately, we now live in a society where you can't even make a quick dash inside a convenience store to pay for gas or grab a soda without running the risk of some jackwad turning your car into their personal grab-and-go boutique.
And don't even think about leaving your car unlocked outside a gas station, store, or even in front of your home. Do something like that, and you might as well post a neon sign on the windshield that says "Welcome, Thieves! Help Yourself, Inventory Changes Daily!"
Car theft has become a full-blown epidemic in many cities throughout the country, and it's once again reared its ugly head in the Sioux Empire.

Dakota News Now is reporting that a string of car break-ins occurred outside two different gyms in Sioux Falls on Thursday, August 14.
While you were busy lifting weights inside, some jackwad outside was busy lifting wallets.
Police reports state that in each case, car windows were smashed, and various things like purses, backpacks, and other items of value were taken.
According to Dakota News Now, all the crimes appear to have happened inside a tight window on Thursday, between 4:45 and 5:45 AM.
The targeted gym parking lots were in the areas of 43rd and Duluth and 26th and Sycamore.
In total, 10 vehicles were targeted in what appears to be an organized "smash and grab" spree that morning.

Police told Dakota News Now that, in every case, all the vehicles had their windows broken, and items of value were taken.
Sioux Falls has seen similar break-ins before, but it's still unclear if these latest crimes are all connected.
Authorities want to remind residents to always lock their cars and, whenever possible, remove anything of value. That includes purses, bags, electronics, firearms, and yes, probably even your lucky gym socks.
Bottom line: don't make your vehicle an inviting target for a would-be thief.
