Where Is the Oldest South Dakota Grocery Store?

The "Roaring 20s" were an era of economic growth and lots of cultural change. Prohibition was in full swing and so were speakeasies where people would dance the night away to newly minted jazz songs while drinking "bathtub gin".

In South Dakota, economic growth appeared in Huron with the opening of South Dakota's oldest grocery store. According to "Only in Your State South Dakota", Manolis Grocery Store opened in the 1920s selling grocery staples to grateful town residents.

Today Manolis Grocery continues the proud tradition that George Manolis began back in the 1920s selling a big selection of meats and cheeses, wine and spirits, and a full menu of delicious and famously huge hot and cold sandwiches.
