You're rolling your cart through the Sioux Falls Costco, dodging the sample crowd near the cheese station, then ya roll into the big cooler and find “Lychee”. What are those things?

You pause. You squint. So what are they?

Lychees are a tropical fruit originally from southern China, and they've been enjoyed across Asia for over 2,000 years.

Outside, they look a little bizarre, small, reddish-pink, and bumpy, like a tiny alien berry.

But peel back that rough skin, and you'll find a juicy, pearl-white fruit with a floral, sweet flavor that's somewhere between a grape, a pear, and a rose.

They're also packed with Vitamin C, potassium, and antioxidants, so you can feel slightly virtuous while eating 15 of them over the sink.

How do you eat them? Simple...peel the skin, pop out the seed, and eat the flesh raw.

Word is they are fantastic in fruit salads, blended into smoothies, or muddled into a summer cocktail...lychee martini, anyone!?
