Great Bear Hosting Its First ‘Welcome Winter Fest’

Winter enthusiasts, mark your calendars! Great Bear Ski Valley is hosting its inaugural Welcome Winter Fest on November 8, 2025, from 10 AM to 2 PM. It's a celebration designed to help the Sioux Falls community embrace the upcoming winter season.

The centerpiece of the event is the Ski Swap, which begins at 11 AM and benefits the Great Bear Ski Patrol.

Whether you're gearing up for your first runs of the season or looking to upgrade your equipment, you'll find downhill and cross-country skis, snowboards, boots, bindings, and like-new winter apparel. Sellers can register their items online to schedule drop-off appointments.

Beyond shopping, you can enjoy scenic chairlift rides showcasing the fall foliage, grab delicious goodies from the 605 Island Guy food truck, and unwind with beverages from the bar. The festival creates the perfect opportunity to explore what makes Great Bear special while soaking in the crisp autumn air.

Community vendors, including Spoke-N-Sport, Great Outdoor Store, Jacobson Plaza, and The Outdoor Campus, will be on-site alongside representatives from Great Bear's Snow Sports School, Adaptive Skiing Program, Womxn of Winter, and Adult League. These experts are ready to answer questions and help you plan your winter adventures.

Don't forget: season pass sales launch online on October 15, with rates increasing on December 1, so early birds save big!
