February in the Sioux Empire has been a mix of really nice days and freaking cold days. So, the usual. But, as we look ahead, what does spring have in store?

When Does Spring Officially Start in Sioux Falls?

Spring starts on March 20, 2026. Chances are we'll have some spring snow. Sioux Falls actually gets the bulk of its snow in the spring.

While the threat of snow will hang around for a while, our temperatures will be going up. Soon, we'll get a break from dipping below zero at night. And any snow we do get should melt pretty fast.

When it comes to spring temperatures, many people are wondering when they can start planting their garden. They want to wait until the last frost of the season. The last time we drop below 32 degrees.
