Vikings Head Coach Stunned by Draft Day Twist – See His Shocked Reaction

The Minnesota Vikings had a busy night last night during the first round of the NFL Draft, going into the night with picks 11 and 23, expectations were high, but one moment left Head Coach Kevin O'Connell visually shocked.

The Vikings splashed early in the draft by moving up one spot from 11 to 10 to grab Michigan QB J.J. McCarthy, that move didn't surprise a lot of people, the Vikings are in need of a starting QB after Kirk Cousins made the move to Atlanta (which he may regret now), but it was the move they made about an hour later that left O'Connell speechless.

The Vikings Making Moves in NFL Draft

Moving from the 23rd spot to the 17th spot, the Vikings made a move no one saw coming, they moved up to grab what some considered as the best defensive player in the draft, Linebacker Dallas Turner from Alabama.

What Move Left Vikings Head Coach Shocked?

In a video shared by the Vikings, GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah is seen walking casually in the "war room" saying, "Turner, we're getting him", the next shot is of O'Connell who looks genuinely surprised and shocked by the development, and all he says is, "really?"

What's Next for The Vikings?

There is no doubt that the Vikings are very happy with night one of the NFL Draft, picking up two players that can make an immediate impact on the field next season. The NFL Draft continues into the weekend and the Vikings have a handful of picks remaining, so we will see if they have any more surprises up their sleeve.
