There are few things that are certain in life...but a huge Thanksgiving weekend snowstorm is pretty much a guarantee in the Northland. I feel like there is always one - and there was one last year, too.

With that said, winter is shaping up and there have been various outlooks and forecasts about what this upcoming winter might be like. Now, the Farmers' Almanac has shared their outlook for Thanksgiving weekend.

Things can always change and it's still a month away but because so many of us travel to see family that weekend, it's always good to be prepared.

It should also be noted that not everyone believes in the methodology of the Farmers' Almanac. However, in this case, it is better to be safe than sorry! Here's what they are saying about Thanksgiving in our neck of the woods.

Farmers' Almanac Shares Thanksgiving Forecast For Minnesota

For the record, this is an outlook for November 23rd through the 26th. That is a Monday through the actual holiday, the busiest time of the month to travel to your Thanksgiving destination. The good news? We aren't looking at a major snowstorm but rather a 'typical late-November setup' instead.

For our region, we can expect the following for the week of the holiday:

Scattered snow showers or flurries in the Great Lakes and Midwest

Okay, flurries I can definitely handle! I could even handle a few scattered snow showers. As long as it is not a major snowstorm like it always is, I am fine with it! I am still recovering from that long, cold winter last year.

This doesn't mean we are in the clear. The Farmers' Almanac says the midwest will lean 'colder and more winterlike' than other parts of the country. They also state that some 'brief travel slowdowns' could be possible because of the projected snow showers.

Again, that doesn't mean we will see a massive snowstorm. It just means what little snow we do see could be enough to impact travel. It's a good thing we are used to that happening in the Northland.

According to the Farmers' Almanac, this Thanksgiving will be 'more typical than turbulent' and I love that - we get enough turbulent weather in our neck of the woods. We deserve a break and now I am ready for some turkey.
