While game show fans everywhere are glued to their television sets for the epic battle to see whether Ken Jennings, Brad Rutter, or James Holzhauer will reign supreme in the Jeopardy! - The Greatest of All-Time event, most of us at one time or another have asked ourselves - 'How would I do on as a Jeopardy! contestant?'.

The odds are stacked against the average person ever getting a chance to buzz in on the actual show, but there is a way to get a quick idea of whether you have what it takes to maybe be the next Jeopardy! superstar.

It's the Jeopardy! Practice Test.

On the show's official website you have the chance to pick from one of three different 30-question tests - Adult (Age 18+), College (Full-time student), or Teen (Ages 13-17).

You have 15 seconds to type in a response to a clue from 30 different categories. And no, unlike the actual game, you do not have to answer in the form of a question.

I don't know about you but when I have thought about my own chances on Jeopardy! over the years I have the same recurring image in my head - getting to the studio only to be confronted with categories that give me no shot.

Sure enough on my practice test, I got clues in categories that make up my worst Jeopardy! nightmares, like:

  • Poets & Poetry
  • Composers
  • Physics
  • The Bible
  • Shakespeare
  • Playwrights
  • Composers
  • African-American Lit
  • Authors
  • Asian Geography

That's a full third of the test, and not surprisingly, I got each and every one of those responses wrong!

So where did I excel?

  • Colleges & Universities
  • Sculpture (lucky guess)
  • Baseball Teams (one of my dream categories)
  • Song Lyrics (another one in my wheelhouse)
  • U.S. State Capitals
  • Legal Terms
  • Rhyme Time
  • Architecture (another lucky guess)
  • Queens (shocked myself on that one)

When the dust settled and my heart stopped racing, I finished about where I expected - 15 right responses, 15 wrong.

Looks like I can stop saving for that trip to LA to meet Alex Trebek.

Now it's your turn. How will you fare on the Jeopardy! Test?
