You want the perfect wedding. You want everything to be just so. After all, it's a once in a lifetime thing, right?

Well, hopefully.

According to a survey done by the website The Ladders, you may not want to skimp on the cost of getting hitched. 40% of divorced people and 48% of remarried folks said they forked out under a grand on their first wedding. Meanwhile, 22% of those who are still married said they spent less than $1,000.

But hold on...that doesn't mean you have to go crazy with the bucks on your special day either.

Keeping it under $10,000 and even less than $5,000 means you'll be happy. Well, it doesn't guarantee it, but a big percentage that spent that are still happily married. Those that spent more than that? Well, a significant number of those people said diving into big debt for the big day causes marital stress.

So what's just right for you?

There is no right answer, of course. Figure it out the best you can and here's to many, many happy years together!
