Yep, that's a picture of us last December when we loaded up on the short bus and went looking at Christmas lights. Just another great night with some of the best people I've ever been fortunate enough to know.

It's been a great 18 months or so since Sarah and I were 'adopted' into this wonderful 'family' and I've never been happier. On the way home from Sarah's 50th birthday, she told me it was probably her best birthday ever. Yep, all our friends go a LONG way to make that happen.

We all have different backgrounds, we all have different professions, we were all brought up in different parts of the country. But there is always nothing but love when we get together in groups large or small. There's never any BS. It's unlike anything I've ever experienced and I couldn't be happier.

Music is at the heart of our gatherings as many of these wonderful people are talented musicians as well. An impromptu jam is always right around the corner when the gang gets together. But it's so much more than that. It's coming together in times of need and being there if someone needs to talk or a shoulder to cry on in a time of sorrow, or coming together to celebrate a birthday or a holiday. To know that there are people that are going to be there for you no matter what, is something pretty special. I'm reminded of that every time I see any of them.

It's a pretty wonderful feeling to always be greeted with a smile, a hug and a kiss and know that people are genuinely happy to see you and be around you...it's special. That's the best word I can think to use. Special.

If you're as fortunate as I am to have a family like I do, you're rich, no matter what your income or social standing is. I love every one of my wild wacky family, and wouldn't change it for anything in the world.
