Firefighters Battling Grass Fires Amid Dry Sioux Falls Conditions
Firefighters battled a couple of grass fires in and around Sioux Falls on Tuesday. One that was getting a lot of attention on social media is the fire burning in the city limits near 57th and Cliff Avenue. (Pictured)
Extreme fire conditions exist due to the dry conditions. Red Flag Warning are posted in several counties because the possibility of accidental ignites are very high.
Another fire that agencies responded to was off Sundowner near Tea.
The National Weather Service of Sioux Falls has fire danger lasting at least through Wednesday, and it posted, "Elevated fire danger exists across the area again on Wednesday."
The blaze at 57th and Cliff has several houses in the area. As the photos depict, firefighters were in backyards and using the bike trails to battle the fires and to keep them from spreading.
One thing we should be very thankful for is that we did not have the strong winds that Monday dealt the Sioux Empire.
