Pumpkin Spice stuff is already popping up around Sioux Falls. Does this seem early to you? Shouldn't there be a law as to when you can start selling Pumpkin Spice?
Pumpkin Spice is big business around the nation. Yearly sales of all things pumpkin spice flavored topped $511.5 million in 2019 according to Nielsen data.
It's a fall ritual. The temp drops some folks reach for the comfort of Pumpkin Spiced … everything. You can find Pumpkin Spiced candles, coffee, teas, pies, cookies, cupcakes, pancakes, waffles, syrups, Granola bars, lotions, sprays, potpourri, and beer.
But doesn't it seem that the fall Pumpkin Spice rush starts earlier every year? Just this week I was walking through a Sioux Falls Hy-Vee and noticed a table of fresh Pumpkin Spice sweet baked goods. It was almost 90 degrees outside. I'm not thinking fall at all.
At Target this year you can even find a Pumpkin Spice Squishmallow. It's a 14 inch high cute stuffed plush toy. It's tough to find them on the shelves because people are buying them up fast.
Some Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks, and other coffee shops have already put Pumpkin Spice on their menus.
The season of Fall officially starts at 3:21 pm Wednesday, September 22, 2021. I think it should be a law that you can't sell anything Pumpkin Spice until after that.
