Live music, food and family fun are all part of the Downtown Sioux Falls Block Party tonight (July 11) at 8th & Railroad Cener!

Music starts at 6pm with Sioux Falls own The Copoetics who will bring a taste of 'island folk' back home to the crowds. I had Daniel and Louisa in studio earlier this week to give us a preview with their original song "Be You"

From 7:30-8pm it's the Battle for the Arts Competition with Dan Meyer vs. Liz Phillips

And from 8pm until 10:30, The Cole Allen Band from the Twin Cities will play two sets! Allen blends rock and blues into a fantastic show. You may have seen him last month at the Block Party as he is also the guitarist for the Sena Ehrhardt Band. Allen released his debut solo album just last year and is a talent to keep an eye on!

Cole stopped by the studio this afternoon and talked about balancing his solo career with his work with the Sena Ehrhardt Band, plans to record a new album in the spring and influences like Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top and B.B. King who he said talking to was "like talking to God". I asked him to bring a guitar to the studio and he played a song from his self-titled debut album of last year called "You Can Have My Heart"

The Washington Pavilion will also have a booth on site offering great kids’ activities from 6:00 – 8:30 including free beading fun and spiro-graph motorcycles, plus face painting for just $2-$5.

As always, admission is free. There will be food and beverage vendors on site as well and it looks like the rain is supposed to hold off until after midnight making it a great evening to explore downtown!
