Chuck’s Kegger. A New Two Day Music Fest Set For Sioux Falls in June
RibFest 2014 was one of the biggest festivals of the summer and easily the biggest rock festival Sioux Falls has ever seen. From Loverboy, to Rick Springfield to Lynyrd Skynyrd and another ten national headlining bands, the festival at the WH Lyon Fairgrounds was one for the ages.
Chuck Brennan, best known now as founder of Dollar Loan Center and the Brennan Rock & Roll Academy in Sioux Falls, was a music promoter in his younger days. He told me last spring that putting together the RibFest lineup got him back in that mindset and having fun with the whole process.
When an agreement couldn't be reached between Brennan and RibFest owners SMG, Brennan decided to split away and start his own festival next summer.
Chuck's Kegger will combine two days of live music with a championship chili cook-off and Guinness World Records on hand as they attempt to break several records like most kegs tapped, fastest rolling kegs, balancing kegs on someone's head and more.
The bands won't be announced until the end of March, but Brennan is promising a lineup on par with this years RibFest lineup that drew record crowds estimated at over 50,000.
The goal is to raise $350,000, which is the cost of operating the Brennan Rock & Roll Academy for one year. Chuck's Kegger will be held June 19-20 at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds. Tickets will cost $40 for one day or $60 for both days. You'll also be able to buy a chili card for $20 which will allow you to sample from all eight chili vendors.
