Christmas at the Western Mall
The 8th annual Christmas at the Western Mall light show will run from Thanksgiving through New Years Day (November 28, 2013-January 1, 2014) in the center court of the Western Mall.
The show was started back in 2006 by Joe Noe at his house and was called a 'Crooks Christmas' for the first several years of it's existence. After a few years, as the show became so popular that there were lines of traffic every night through the streets of Crooks, South Dakota, Noe struck a deal with the Western Mall in Sioux Falls (at 41st & Western between Scheels and Best Buy) to move the light show there.
Since its inception, people who come and enjoy the show are given the opportunity to make a freewill donation to Make-A-Wish of South Dakota. 100% of the donations go directly to the charity so over the first seven years, over $170,000 has been donated to grant wishes to sick kids in our state.
People often wonder how many lights it takes to put on the show and event the organizers don't have an exact count, but their best guess is over 50,000 super bright LED's!
The music selections change every year, and this year will feature Trans Siberian Orchestra, DJ Schwede and Enya.
The show will run nightly from 5:30pm-9:30pm Thanksgiving through New Years. We hope you make plans to attend Christmas at the Western Mall (and then go back with other friends and family once you see how cool it is!) and make a donation to Make-A-Wish of South Dakota.
