Celebrities Join Drive To End Gun Violence

A grassroots effort that has the backing of over 800 U.S. Mayors and 900,000 citizens, is now enlisting the help of celebrities to encourage President Obama and Congress to come up with a meaningful plan to end gun violence.

Demand A Plan is asking for legislation that will:

1 Require a criminal background check for every gun sold in America
2 Ban assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines
3 Make gun trafficking a federal crime, with real penalties for “straw purchasers”

Since movies and TV have come under fire by some as being partly to blame for escalating violence, was it a smart move to have Hollywood-types do the PSA?
