Best Christmas Light Displays in South Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota
Now that Thanksgiving is officially in the rear view mirror, there's no shame in turning your attention to Christmas and all of the festive things that come with it.
To point your celebration in the right direction, Travel + Leisure has a new list out identifying The Best Places to See Christmas Lights in Every State.
The top choices in South Dakota, Iowa, and Minnesota all have long histories.
Their choice for the Mount Rushmore State is Winter Wonderland at Falls Park in Sioux Falls.
The event is in its 20th year and features more than 25 miles of light strings, 270 decorated trees, multiple animated light features, and more than 355,000 LED lights.
It's free of charge ad runs through January 7.
Travel + Leisure recommends heading to the park's five-story viewing tower for a 360-degree view of the lights.
In the Hawkeye State, the top pick is Jolly Holiday Lights, which has changed locations for 2023.
Jolly Holly Lights is a 2.5-mile drive through more than 100 Christmas light displays.
This year's event is free but donations are being accepted for Make-A-Wish Iowa.
It runs through January 7.
In the North Star State, the best light display is the Bentleyville Tour of Lights in Downtown Duluth.
Now in its 20th year, the event features more than five million lights spread over 20 acres.
Admission is $10 per vehicle. Your final chance to the lights is December 26.
