B Rock Note: Boston’s Big Debut Album 41 Years Ago
An amazing rock album hit the shelves and instantly became a best-seller on December 4, 1976. I had to shovel snow from more than a few driveways to be able to afford the vinyl that year, but it was the most "grown-up" album I had ever purchased - and still one of my favorites.
Boston's self-titled debut album featured More Than a Feeling, Peace of Mind, Smokin', Foreplay/Longtime, Rock 'n Roll Band and many others that would become a mainstay on rock radio for decades.
Tom Scholz reflected on the late lead singer Brad Delp's ability to carry the album and ultimately the band's global success. Sadly, Delp committed suicide on March 9th, 2007 at the age of 55.
Since it's 1976 release Boston has sold over 17 million copies.
