The New York Yankees have drafted a left-handed pitcher out of Augustana University.

Dalton Lehnen was drafted in the 6th round of the 2017 MLB Draft. He was the 182nd overall pick and the only person out of the South Dakota colleges to be drafted (South Dakota native Jake Adams, who plays at Iowa, was drafted to Houston). Lehnen is currently a junior.

Lehnen joined the Vikings following a stint at the University of Cincinnati. This past season he went 3-3 overall, 2.60 ERA, and struck out 61 total batters.

The Lakeview, Minnesota native has become the fifth Viking to be drafted since 2012. He was rated as the best prospect out of South Dakota by MLB.com.
