It’s that quirky sport that captures our imagination every four years during the Winter Olympics. Now curling is becoming one of the fastest growing sports in Sioux Falls, and you have a chance this weekend to step out on the ice and experience it for yourself.

Sioux Falls Curling is hosting a Learn to Curl event Saturday from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the Scheels Ice Plex.

Trained instructors will teach you the basics of curling, including how to throw the stones, sweeping, scoring, strategy and why there’s so much yelling! It’s a great opportunity for people of all ages and abilities who just want to try the sport or are interested in curling on a league this spring.

No reservations are needed, but come early as the event is limited to the first 120 people. You are asked to wear warm, flexible clothing and to bring a clean pair of rubber soled shoes. Cost is $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for kids under age 12. For more information on the Learn to Curl event or the spring curling leagues starting in March, visit sfcurling.com and on Facebook.
